Book 1: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

This is my all time favourite book. I love the writing style, the story and the fact she is known as the original feminist. I have read this book too many times to count since I first picked it up at 14.

Orphaned Jane Eyre grows up in the home of her heartless aunt and later attends a charity school with a harsh regime, enduring loneliness and cruelty. This troubled childhood strengthens Jane’s natural independence and spirit – which prove necessary when she finds a position as governess at Thornfield Hall.

Book 2: Harry Potter series by JK Rowling

These books will never get old and are something I pick up at least once a year.

Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible journey is about to begin! Follow Harry and his friends as they encounter two-faced professors and three-headed dogs, battle spiders and serpents, discover the mysteries of Divination and Dementors, and much, much more. Book 3: Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden

I feel like this is one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever written. The insight into a world that is alien to us and a glimpse of Japanese history along with a story that is well told.

Summoning up more than twenty years of Japan’s most dramatic history, Memoirs of a Geisha uncovers a hidden world of eroticism and enchantment, exploitation and degradation.

Book 4: The Walsh Sister series by Marian Keyes

These books are so funny but deal with some real issues throughout. I enjoyed the whole series.

The Walsh sisters book series follows the lives, heartbreaks, and recoveries of five close-knit, chaotic Irish siblings from Dublin: Claire, Rachel, Maggie, Anna and Helen.

Book 5: Karin Slaughter books

I find these to be really well written for crime stories and you are always left guessing until the end.

Book 6: The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchinson

This is the start of a series of books by this author and I enjoyed the whole series. The ideas for her books are original and they are so well written.

Near an isolated mansion lies a beautiful garden. In this garden grow luscious flowers, shady trees…and a collection of precious “butterflies”—young women who have been kidnapped and intricately tattooed to resemble their namesakes. Overseeing it all is the Gardener, a brutal, twisted man obsessed with capturing and preserving his lovely specimens.
